University of Leeds invited True to run a listening workshop for their team

Challenge

The University of Leeds invited True to support its Race Equality Charter Institutional Self-Assessment Team to strengthen how they gather and interpret insight from colleagues and students as part of their Race Equality Charter work.

What we did

We designed and delivered two interactive half-day workshops focused on organisational listening for the Race Equality Charter Institutional Self-Assessment Team.

The sessions explored how different forms of listening can help organisations understand people’s lived experiences more deeply.

Alongside the framework, we introduced practical tools and facilitation techniques to help the team move beyond surveys and develop a more structured approach to listening, insight and dialogue with colleagues and students. The workshops also created space for reflection on how listening can support more meaningful conversations about race, culture and belonging across the university.

Impact

Participants gained practical techniques to gather richer insight, interpret feedback more confidently and embed listening more effectively into their equality and inclusion work.

“Ann-Marie and Howard delivered a thought provoking workshop on 'Leading the Listening Organisation' to the Race Equality Charter Institutional Self-Assessment Team here at the University of Leeds. As we continue our expedition towards creating a racially diverse and inclusive community at the university, we know only too well how critically important listening will be in that endeavour. Ann-Marie and Howard shared deep insights, examples and frameworks that will serve us well on that expedition and beyond. I can't thank you enough, and I look forward to working with you both in the future.”
