Why Horizon Scanning and Scenario Planning need to be in every communicators tool box
I’ve just returned from Toronto where was speaking at the IABC World Conference. As part of my session I delivered a workshop on horizon scanning and scenario planning where I too a group of HR and communications attendees through True's practical framework for anticipating change, building resilience and preparing for a range of possible futures. I explored the concept of a BANI world — one that is Brittle, Anxiety-Inducing, Non-Linear and Incomprehensible — and discussed how organisations can help people navigate uncertainty by becoming more future-ready. I was delighted by the response to the session, and especially pleased to see one attendee capture the key insights so brilliantly
The interest in this topic reflects a wider trend. More and more of our clients are asking for support with horizon scanning and scenario planning as they look to prepare their teams for an increasingly uncertain future. These sessions help leaders step back from immediate pressures, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and develop the confidence to make better decisions today.
If you'd like to explore how a horizon scanning or scenario planning session could help your team become more future-ready, I'd love to chat. Contact us at hello@true-comms.com.
